KOH RONG NANG DIVE SITE LOCATION
The Koh Rong Nang Training Buoy technical dive site is located in the Gulf of Thailand, Koh Samaesan, in Sattahip District, Chonburi Province. It lies just north-east of Koh Rong Nang and south of the Samaesan Hole. It can easily be identified by an obvious orange buoy.
DIVE SITE HISTORY
Local Navy Divers stationed near Chong Samaesan frequently use the training buoy. If you encounter a military boat upon arrival, it is advisable to choose a different dive site.
ABOUT THE DIVE SITE
The base of the buoy line is located at 37 meters, providing suitable conditions for various training dives. Due to strong currents often present at the site, divers are encouraged to practise their skills behind the substantial concrete blocks situated at the bottom of the line. Proceeding northeast, divers will encounter a distinct valley that slopes beyond 50 meters, leading into the Samaesan Hole, which reaches a depth of 95 meters. Don’t let the current pull you down unless you have planned this! This site offers a greater abundance of marine life and coral compared to other dive locations.
HOW TO DIVE AT KOH RONG NANG TRAINING BUOY DIVE SITE
The site is only accessible by boat, which is roughly a 40min trip from Chong Samaesan where most of the dive operators moor their boats. Dive operators for this site are typically based in Pattaya so if you are wanting to dive here then this is a good starting point for finding shops.
I would highly recommend Dive Pattaya and Tec Pattaya for this due to them having a dedicated tech diving boat; gas blending & equipment maintenance facilities; and experienced TDI, PSAI and PADI Tec Instructors who regularly dive this site.
